KEUMBU CHILDRENS EDUCATION CENTER PROJECT.
Currently the orphanage cares for 20 children who are in kindergarten through lower primary (up to grade 5).
These children have to walk over two kilometers every day to attend school. They go without lunch on most days when they cannot travel back to the orphanage for their lunch.
Because the home is 100% donor supported, the children often lack basic school needs like reading materials and school fees.
They also undergo stigmatization from other pupils because they are orphans.
Their performance and development has been affected as a result these challenges.
We want to set up a primary school with a Kindergarten which will run from nursery to lower primary school. (grade 1 – 5)
The school will gather children who are orphans, those that live with the elderly, those affected and infected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic, among other vulnerabilities.
This project will set a good foundation for the Orphans and other vulnerable children and allow them access equitable quality education to help them achieve their purpose in life.
Expected cost of the project
– Construction of five classrooms $ 15,243
– Purchase land measuring 1/8 acres $ 4,878
Total cost $ 20, 121
